Painting of school and classrooms

A study carried out by Newcastle University in England found that small improvements in the appearance and maintenance of classrooms can have a positive impact on the students. Painting classrooms, furniture repair, colour and lighting and other relatively small improvements can aid learning.

School Painting

SOLA (School Of Liberal Arts) is located centrally at the intersection of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue. They contracted our painting company to paint the second and third floor of their school. The scope of work included painting walls, trim and doors in the classrooms, hallways and common areas. We also had to paint school washrooms and some office space. The timing was very limited, as we needed to complete one floor in time for the carpet installation and we couldn't start the next floor until then. A total of eight mostly warm colours were used, muted shades of green, blue and neutrals from Para Paints Heritage Collection. In addition, the hallways, doors washrooms and common areas were painted in monochromatic shades of grey from the Valspar collection. There were over 200 lockers to paint on both floors.Painting the lockers in a strong red colour, required three coats of enamel for proper hiding. An alkyd based enamel had to be used because of the previous paint, and of course durabillity was a concern. Before the project began, the school staff worked very hard to prepare the areas for painting. A total of ten of our painters took turns working on this project. Four weeks later, the project was successfully completed.
