Eco-friendly Painting, Retail stores.

The colours were hot pinks, lime greens, even bright blue. Cool, very cool. You may be lucky to find these colours on a popsicle. The cure for the painters "builders beige" syndrome, for sure. The places were several Lululemon Athletica stores in different malls and locations in the GTA. Most of the work was done on Sunday nights (early Monday mornings), as Sunday is the only day stores close early. Nothing like intense colour therapy to start the week right!

Given our clients desire and policy of reducing its environmental footprint and our strong commitment to low polution paints, a low VOC paint was used. Benjamin Moore's newly available "base 3" ECOspec line worked wonders with the bright colours that were used. Another challenge was, being able to start and complete painting major sections of the stores quick enough, to have everything dried and odour free for the store personnel in the morning.

As the store personnel was moving all merchandise away from the walls, our painters were immediately getting to work, covering and masking all adjacent surfaces, fixtures and merchandise. Holes, cracks and imperfections had to be patched, sanded and spot-primed fast, stains had to be washed and two coats of paint had to be applied with enough drying time in between coats of paint. In two of the locations, all three colours had to be used. Washing tools between colours was not an option and all tools had to be washed off the site.

We completed the painting of the locations at the Eaton's Centre, Vaughan Mills, The Promenade, Yorkdale, Sherway Gardens and Queen Street West. Our painters met the challenge successfully and enjoyed the experience of serving one of our better corporate clients.
